Remember what I said about deactivating Twitter? About that…

My attempt at quitting Twitter has ended in complete failure. I reactivated my account this morning.

Why did I do this? I realized I was missing out on things. A lot of information is conveyed through Twitter. When you cut yourself off from Twitter, you are removing yourself from the flow of timely information. For example, I didn’t learn that Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto tested positive for COVID-19 until shortly before yesterday’s game. If I was still on Twitter, I believe I would have known about it much sooner.

Like it or not, in 2020 the Internet without Twitter is not the real Internet. Not really. So until Twitter stops being such a core part of the Internet, I will be on Twitter.

You can follow me at @rlrottman. If you follow me, I will follow you back. We’ll be fake friends on the Internet! Doesn’t that sound like fake fun?
