The Pennsylvania Supreme Court announced today that Bill Cosby’s conviction for sexual assault had been overturned.

In an opinion written by Justice David Wecht, the court said a prosecutor involved in investigating Cosby, Montgomery County (Pa.) District Attorney Bruce Castor, induced Cosby into making incriminating comments in a civil case by promising him that his statements wouldn’t be used in a parallel criminal case. Later, a different prosecutor, District Attorney Kevin Steele, broke that deal and used those comments to prosecute him — a violation of Cosby’s Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, the appeals court ruled. The court said Steele was obligated to stand by his predecessor’s promise not to charge Cosby.
Cosby is a free man not because he didn’t drug women and then rape them, but because District Attorney Kevin Steele is a moron. Cosby was convicted of sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, the operations director for women’s basketball at Temple University. That doesn’t mean she was his only victim. At least 60 other women came forward to accuse Cosby of drugging them and performing sex acts upon them.
I used to love Bill Cosby. Now, I hate him. I watched Fat Albert every Saturday morning. When I was older, I was a huge The Cosby Show fan. When I was in the Air Force and stationed in the Philippines, my mother would record all the top shows on American TV on VHS tape and mail them to me. The tapes were very popular with everyone in the barracks. People were always borrowing them. The Cosby Show was my favorite. Watching it made me feel good.
Cosby put on a fake persona that I totally bought into. But, like a lot of people, I was duped. I thought he was a great man. But, instead, he was a creep who drugged and sexually assaulted women. I was hoping he’d contract COVID-19 and die alone in prison.
