My name is Richard Rottman. This is my personal website. It’s where I write about the assorted stuff I think is interesting or events I want to comment on.
I’m from Southern California. I grew up in the Mojave Desert, where Los Angeles County starts thinking about becoming Kern County.
I live in Maryland with my wife. I came here in 1994 after leaving the U.S. Air Force. I was offered a job by Walmart, working in a large centralized photo lab in Williamsport. I didn’t know anything about photo finishing. They were seeking former military electronics technicians to repair and maintain the lab’s machines.
Here are just some of the things I’ve done for a living:
- Avionics technician (U.S. Air Force)
- Photo finishing equipment technician
- High-speed print facility electronics technician
- Variable AC frequency inverter repair technician
- Credit card processing technical support agent
- Rideshare driver
- Web developer
I enjoy reading books. Here are the genres I enjoy:
- Science Fiction
- Horror, as long as it’s written by Grady Hendrix
- Fantasy, as long as it’s not “romantasy“
- Military History, mostly about World War II
- Political history
- Sports history
