GameStop Pro membership is a rip off

GameStop is a terrible company. A while back, I signed up for GameStop Pro. It costs $25 a year and you get 5% off purchases, plus a $5 monthly reward each month.

A couple of days ago, I used March’s reward in the app towards a Pokemon Funko Pop (don’t judge me). I chose the option of picking it up in person at my local GameStop. A few minutes later, I got a message saying my order was canceled.

Because I only ordered one item, I don’t know why it says “part” of my order couldn’t be fulfilled.

The following day, I went to GameStop. They had the Funko Pop figure I wanted sitting on the shelf. I took it to the register to buy it. When I asked to apply my $5 monthly GameStop Pro membership credit to the purchase, I was told I already used it this month. I explained I used online the previous night, but GameStop cancelled the order.

I was told the $5 GameStop Pro monthly reward is like a coupon. Once you use a coupon, it is gone. They do not refund coupons.

The fact that I did not cancel the order, GameStop did, did not matter in the slightest.

I sent an email to GameStop customer service, but I have not received a reply. I probably won’t. Since you have to use each $5 monthly GameStop Pro monthly reward the month it was issued, tomorrow (April 1) that coupon will be expired.

Take my advice and do not ever sign up for the GameStop Pro program. It’s overpriced and GameStop will cheat you out of your $5 monthly reward any chance they get.
