Queen Elizabeth II 1926 – 2022

Queen Elizabeth II 1926 – 2022 - Bent Corner

Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, died today. She was 96.

Queen Elizabeth reigned for 70 years. She’s the only monarch most Britons have ever known. Replacing her on the throne will be her oldest son, Prince Charles. He will become king.

As if the people of the United Kingdom don’t already have enough to feel bad about.

Although Prince Charles isn’t a known sex offender like his younger brother Prince Andrew is, he’s still a creep. He married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. Almost immediately she became the favorite royal not only in the United Kingdom but the world. Seriously, their wedding was must-watch TV around the world. People watched not because of Prince Charles, but because of Diana.

Instead of dedicating himself to his marriage and his 20-year-old bride, the 32-year-old prince was more interested in continuing his relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, a married woman.

It’s hard to put into words just how much people loved Princes Diana. The same cannot be said about her husband, the future King of England. He has the charisma of a wet dishrag. Maintaining a loving, dedicated marriage to Diana could have done wonders for his image. Charles instead focused his affections on the wife of another man.

Charles’ relationship with Camilla eventually ended his marriage to Diana. If Charles hadn’t chosen to put his not-so-secret relationship with Camilla above all others, Diana would be alive today.

Although I’m not English, many of my ancestors were. I think it’s why I look to England with a certain amount of fondness. A part of me wanted Queen Elizabeth II to outlive me, just so I never had to witness her repulsive oldest son become king.

Like Jesus used to say, we don’t always get what we want.

I’m still shocked she died.

Rest in Peace, your Majesty.

I think that was Sir Mick Jagger.

”Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith”

    Probably a more appropriate song!

I usually attribute every smart thing I’ve heard to Jesus. More times than not, I’ll end up being right.

The older I get, the more I enjoy the Rolling Stones. I didn’t like them very much in my younger days. Now as an old man, I appreciate their music.
