When will people be allowed to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?

When will people be allowed to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?

When will people be allowed to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?Even though the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging throughout Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan is working to quickly reopen the state. He activated Phase 1 yesterday at 5 PM. Also yesterday, 1,083 Marylanders tested positive for COVID-19 and 44 people died from the disease. Both the state and the federal government seem hellbent on forsaking public safety and forgetting this pandemic even exists.

We all need PPE

My problem with that attitude is it’s almost impossible for regular people to adequately protect themselves against COVID-19. A homemade mask isn’t going to cut it.  If someone has COVID-19 and they get too close to you, a homemade mask is almost useless.  If the government wants us to pretend this pandemic isn’t happening and to just go about our “normal” lives, we need access to real Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Regular people still aren’t allowed to buy it.

I want to buy a 3M reusable respirator and some 3M multi-gas vapor filters. I think if I wear this mask and the corresponding filters, I can protect myself from the coronavirus.

The 3M Rugged Comfort Quick Latch Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6503QL. I want one.

Specifically, I think I can protect myself from infected people who insist on getting too close to me. When I try to buy it on Amazon, I’m informed these types of products  are “prioritized for organizations on the front lines responding to COVID-19.” Aren’t we all on the front lines?

Do hospitals do a lot of purchasing on Amazon?

I’m sorry hospitals still don’t have enough PPE. I truly am. At this point in the pandemic, they should be all stocked up with all the PPE they could ever need. If they still don’t have the PPE they need, then that’s a failure of our supply chains. It also makes me wonder why the state and federal government are itching to get everyone to break home-quarantine. Why is the government telling us to go back to normal if hospital workers still don’t have the PPE they need?

I think it’s complete nonsense.
