One of the dumbest logos in all of professional sports is the Washington Nationals Stars and Stripes logo. It’s the regular Walgreens “W” cluttered with, you guessed it, stars and stripes. It looks like a Great Dane with irritable bowel syndrome got into a box of crayons, ate them, and then took a dump on the front lawn. It looks terrible and I hate it.
The Nationals use it anytime they want to look more patriotic. Or maybe they wear it on Sundays. I don’t know and I don’t care.
Why a team that already plays in our nation’s capital and wears red, white, and blue uniforms 162 games a year (and sometimes four games into the postseason) feels the need to burn extra calories to look more patriotic is a mystery to me. They’re trying too hard.
Why not just go all the way and dress players in Uncle Sam costumes? Don’t the Washington Nationals love America?
