The Colin Kaepernick NFL Salute to Service jersey

With news of San Fransisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick refusal to stand for the national anthem because he refuses to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color, it may seem absurd to think the NFL has made money from Kaepernick’s patriotism. The thing is, they have done just that.

Last year the NFL unveiled a whole line of NFL Salute to Service merchandise. From the NFL Show website:

Honor America’s veterans with official Salute to Service gear and apparel from Proudly partnering with the Pat Tillman Foundation, USO, and the Wounded Warrior Project, the NFL will donate 100% of the net proceeds from Salute to Service merchandise to help honor the sacrifices made by our military. Last year, the NFL donated nearly $800,000 to our non-profit partners. Get your hands on Salute to Service jerseys, hats, shirts, and sweatshirts today and join us in saluting our military and their families.

Included in the NFL Salute to Service merchandise were San Fransisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick jerseys.

You can’t get Colin Kaepernick Salute to Service jerseys now. Not from the NFL Shop website. They sold out last year.

I feel sorry for fans who paid $159 for a Colin Kaepernick NFL Salute to Service jersey. They probably aren’t the type of people who tolerate those who refuse to honor the American flag. I don’t see how anyone could wear anything with Kaepernick name and number on it, especially when it also has the Amerian flag on it.

How can Colin Kaepernick criticize America for oppressing people of color while wearing a t-shirt featuring photos of Fidel Castro and Malcolm X? Fidel Castro was an apex predator of the oppression of Black people and people of color.

The following video is from 1959, a year before the photos on Colin Kaepernick’s t-shirt were taken:

The Black person in the video was charged, tried, convicted, and executed by firing squad all on the same day. His crime? He worked for the Cuban government before Fidel Castro overthrew the Cuban government.

Death by firing squad was a fate shared by thousands of Cubans under Fidel Castro.

Colin Kaepernick is an idiot and I have zero respect for him.

I feel sorry for Colin Kaepernick

Too bad Colin Kaepernick never learned to play soccer or make cheese.

San Fransisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick made news last week doing something he excels at, sitting on the bench. The problem is, it was during the national anthem.

What was even worse was that it wasn’t by accident. Colin Kaepernick evidently meant to sit on his ass during the national anthem. The reason? He was protesting against the United States because of its oppression of black people and people of color.

He told NFL Media:

I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.

By “people getting paid leave” he was referring to police officers. When they’re involved in a shooting, they’re relieved of duty while investigators examine the evidence. During the investigation, they continue to get paid.

This whole thing makes me feel sorry for Colin Kaepernick. It’s obvious from looking at his Twitter feed that he’s a big supporter of Black Lives Matter, a movement whose sympathizers have murdered eight police officers.

It must suck to live in a country you hate so much. The only employable skill Colin Kaepernick has to offer the world is playing a sport only racist, oppressive Americans enjoy. Granted, they play football in Canada, but Canada is America Lite. I’ve only been there a few times and other than having a VAT tax, it seemed just like the United States. I’m sure that means it’s just as racist and just as oppressive as the United States.

It’s not like he can play football in China or Russia or some other country not as racist and oppressive as the United States.

A country without bodies in the streets.

Too bad Colin Kaepernick never learned to play soccer or make cheese. If he did, he could go to Europe and make a living. Until he learns some other way to make a living, he’s stuck in the United States.

Robert Griffin III is a dirtbag

Former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III made news a few days ago when word got out that he was divorcing Rebecca Liddicoat, his wife three years. The two have one child together.

More details are now beginning to come out. Griffin began a relationship with Grete Sadeiko, an Estonian-born student attending Florida State on a track and field scholarship, seven months after the birth of his daughter. The two reportedly met on Instagram.

Instagram? I must be using the online service wrong. I thought Instagram was an app for posting dumb photos. I didn’t know it was an app for NFL players to find European whores.

Griffin and Sadeiko were keeping their relationship on the down-low until sometime in April. That is what Griffin’s wife found out about it.

Robert Griffin III is a terrible human being. How fitting that he is now plying his football skills for the Clevland Browns. The Browns are the worst team in the NFL.

I know only too well that marriages, especially first marriages, often end in divorce. There is a way to go about ending your marriage that does not make you an asshole. For example, end your current relationship before you begin a new one. Rebecca Liddicoat is not just his wife; she is the mother of his child. The level of disrespect Robert Griffin III is directing towards Rebecca Liddicoat is disgusting.

The child will grow up and find out all the facts behind her parent’s breakup. She is going to see that her father was not only a terrible quarterback, but he was also a terrible husband and father.

Reportedly Robert Griffin III got Grete Sadeiko’s name tattooed on his arm. What a classless idiot.

On a side note, I was in Marshalls the other day and noticed a huge assortment of Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III jerseys.

Finding jerseys of players who are no longer with a team at Marshalls is nothing new. What got me about this jersey was the price. I was only $7.99. I have never seen a football jersey at Marshalls for that cheap. They are the Nike Limited version, one step below the Nike Elites. They typically go for $149.99.

It is as though Marshalls took into consideration the fact that Robert Griffin III is a dirtbag when they set the price. I would rather wear Taliban robes or a Jimmy Buffett concert t-shirt than a Robert Griffin III jersey.

NFL will suspend four players unless they agree to interview about PEDs

The NFL has informed the NFLPA that unless Packers linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers, Steelers linebacker James Harrison, and free-agent linebacker Mike Neal agree to cooperate with an investigation on performance enhancers, they will suspend them for the first four games of the season.

I love how the NFL has the number four burned into its collective brain. No matter what the transgression, a four-game suspension is always the remedy. Punch the mother of your child and knock her out? That will be four games. Cheat in the AFC Championship Game by using underinflated footballs? That will be four games. Use modern medical science to prepare your body for the hardship of playing in the NFL? That will be four games.

This controversy stems from an Al-Jazeera America (oxymoron much?) produced documentary The Dark Side. The documentary contends that the above four players, along with now-retired quarterback Payton Manning, received shipments of PEDs from pharmaceutical intern Charlie Sly.

The guy’s last name is Sly. If that does not invoke an overall feeling of trust and confidence, I do not know what does.

Payton Manning was already cleared of all wrong doing because his first name is Payton and his last name is Manning. Even in retirement, he’s one of the few NFL players Corporate America loves. He is just not the kind of guy the bad stuff sticks to, just ask the woman he harassed while attending the University of Tennessee.

I think the whole PED controversy is a non-controversy. Of course players in the NFL are using performance enhancers. How could they not be? If a human could do what modern players in the NFL do without PEDs, then there would be no demand for PEDs.  If eating skinless chicken, praying to Jesus, and getting a good night’s sleep could make you into an all-pro in today’s NFL, then that’s what players would be doing.

Los Angeles Rams will not change colors until the 2019 season

When I first heard the Rams were returning to Los Angeles, I just assumed they would be going back to the blue and yellow colors. They wore those colors when they left Los Angeles (technically Anaheim) for St. Louis. They then changed their colors to a darker shade of blue and a darker shade of yellow. Both shades were much uglier than what they wore in Los Angeles, in my humble opinion.

Kevin Demoff, executive vice president of football operations for the Los Angeles Rams told the Los Angeles Times that they do not plan on changing the colors until the 2019 season:

The Rams’ uniform issue will be officially discussed for the first time Tuesday at the NFL owners’ meetings. But Demoff said the team would not apply for a change until 2017, putting it on track for implementation in 2019.

The NFL requires a two-year notice before a team can change their uniforms. Since they will start playing in their brand new shiny Inglewood stadium in 2019, waiting until then to switch colors I guess makes sense to them. I guess they think doing both at the same time is good synergy.

I think that is a mistake.

They need to get the Southland excited about the Rams coming back. Keeping the drab colors of St. Louis only serves as a constant reminder that the Rams thought it would be a wise idea to relocate to St. Louis.

shirtThe Rams will be playing eight home games in Los Angeles. The NFL allows teams to wear their approved throwback uniforms two home games each season. The Rams throwback uniforms are the old blue and yellow uniforms they wore when they first moved to St. Louis. It is the uniform they wore when they won their first Super Bowl. That means the Los Angeles Rams can look like the Los Angeles Rams twice each year. Judging from the official online store of the Los Angeles Rams, it seems they are more than willing to embrace their old colors.

The NFL should not require a team that moves to another city to also give a two-year notice that they are changing their uniforms. They should allow a team to automatically change uniforms if and when they change venues. This is especially true if the team is going back to its original city and they want to to go back to their original colors and logo.

I hate the St. Louis logo. It looks like the type of logo an NHL team would use for a year or two before moving on to something even worse.

Dish dropped NFL Network too?

Not only has Dish dropped the CW Network and WGN America from its lineup of programing, they’ve also dropped the NFL Network.

From the Wall Street Journal:

The NFL said Dish is the first distributor to drop the channel in its 13-year history. If the dispute isn’t resolved in the fall, Dish will also no longer carry the NFL’s RedZone service, which is a specialty channel that carries live action of all games every Sunday throughout the regular season.

Evidently Dish got rid of the NFL Network sometime last month. I didn’t realize it until yesterday while going through the channels. If they continue with this retarded game of chicken into the NFL season, it’s going to be their undoing. One of the main reasons I went with Dish was because they included the NFL RedZone channel in their basic sports package. To get RedZone on DirecTv, I would need to pay for the entire NFL package which included every out-of-market game. I didn’t want every out-of-market game. I just wanted to watch RedZone.

I’d like to cut the cord entirely and just switch to streaming. The problem is, a lot of the networks that offer content online make you go through either local cable, Dish, or DirecTv before you can stream. For example, before I could stream CNN Go on my Roku devices, I had to activate it through Dish. Without an active satellite or cable account, you can’t watch CNN through a streaming device. I should be able to pay a couple bucks a month for CNN without going through a gatekeeper.

America is a great country.
