Joss Whedon compares immigration enforcement agents to the German SS

Joss Whedon, the man behind TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly and the director of the Marvel Comics movies Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron went on Twitter and made a derogatory comment about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. He compared them to President Donald Trump’s SS.

The SS were Adolf Hitler’s elite soldiers responsible for the most grotesque and inhuman atrocities of World War Two. For example, the German SS operated the concentration camps located throughout Europe responsible for the extermination of over six million Jewish people.

The German SS were the worst of the worst. They were so despised by Allied soldiers that when captured, their surrender would not be accepted and they would be shot on sight.

If Joss Whedon truly believes federal ICE agents are anything like the German SS, he’s an idiot.

I have nothing but admiration and sympathy for federal ICE agents. Their job is not an easy one. They’re tasked with enforcing the laws passed by Congress and signed into law by various presidents. ICE agents didn’t create our immigration laws, our elected leaders did.

Joss Whedon knows this, yet he goes on Twitter and says something defamatory and completely untrue about people he doesn’t know. I think the only reason he did something like this was to send a message to his social justice compatriots. He may be a male feminist hypocrite, but he can still talk shit about federal law enforcement with the best of them.

Joss Whedon is dead to me. It pains me to say that. Even though I’ve consumed and enjoyed his work in the past, I can no longer do so in the future. Firefly is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Every couple of years I binge watch every episode. I don’t ever see myself doing that again.

They shut down the government shutdown

Democrats caved and the 2018 government shutdown is over. I’m impressed. The Democrats stood up and shook a first in the air for a full three days.

That’s impressive for Democrats. There’s a reason I changed my party affiliation from Democrat to Unaffiliated. The way the Democrats fumbled this shutdown is one of those reasons.

It’s clear at this point Republicans aren’t going to do anything to protect the people previously protected by Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). These are people who were brought to this country as small children and now face deportation back to countries many of them don’t remember. These are people who did nothing wrong. What should we do, punish someone for something that happened when they were a small child?

I guess so.

We have a failed immigration system. We’ve had one for years now. We chose not to fully enforce the immigration laws we had and we allowed millions of people to come here illegally. DACA was something, in my opinion, that helped fixed problems we allowed to happen.

If you ignore the law and allow people to come here illegally, some of them are going to bring their families. Some in those families are going to be young and truly blameless in the actions of their parents.

If anyone should be punished, punish the parents, not the children.

I expect the Republicans will fix DACA by the simple removal of the first two words, deferred action. The program goes away for good in March. I expect some young people who’ve lived in the United States most of their lives will be deported back to countries many of them don’t remember.

Some, not all.

That’s the way the law enforcement works in this county. Sometimes the law is applied, sometimes it’s not. Sometimes people who are here illegally are deported, sometimes they’re not.

My hope was that the Democrats would force Republicans to fix the problems they both allowed to happen. Not that DACA was perfect. It should have included a pathway to citizenship. I don’t want anyone immigrating to the United States unless their goal is to become a citizen.

I’m done with President Donald Trump

The proof is in. Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States is a racist lunatic.

From the Washington Post:

President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they discussed protecting immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to several people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to countries mentioned by the lawmakers.

Trump then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries such as Norway, whose prime minister he met with Wednesday.

When you complain too many people from Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries are immigrating here and not enough people from Norway are, you’re racist. When you refer to the countries Haitians, El Salvadorans, and Africans immigrate from as “shitholes” you’re racist.

I recently spent nearly ten days in the Meritus Medical Center, most of that time in intensive care. I was treated for a lower G.I. blockage and diabetic ketoacidosis. I could have died.

The care I received from the nursing staff at Meritus Medical Center was the greatest in the world. I exaggerate not. The nurses who treated me were the best in the world. They treated me like I was the best in the world.

I’m the type of person who sometimes finds it easy to see even the slightest amount of fault in things. This is not true when it comes to my nursing staff at Meritus Medical Center.

With that said, I’m pretty sure none of them immigrated here from Norway. I’m also pretty sure not all of them came from descendants who set foot on Plymouth Rock. Could some of them have come here from some of President Trump’s “shithole” countries? Maybe. To me, they will never be people from shithole countries.

They will always be my heroes.

I like to say that I never allow myself to become offended by the words of others. That was not true yesterday. When President Trump said offended me to my core.

I hate Donald Trump. Even though I didn’t vote for him, I was more than ready to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that he did a good job for the sake of our country. I have now reached my limit with this mental baboon. I will now do whatever I need to do to make this man a one-term president. I will register as a Democrat. I will register as a Republican. I will do whatever is within my power to get rid of this racist man from the Oval Office.

I now have a quest and that quest is to get Donald Trump replaced.

Garcia Zarate is the reason there needs to be a wall

The murder trial of illegal Mexican immigrant Garcia Zarate, accused of murdering Kate Steinle, ended yesterday in a not guilty verdict. Garcia Zarate will now face deportation to Mexico, something that’s already taken place five separate times. In fact, when he murdered Kate Steinle, Garcia Zarate was awaiting his sixth deportation back to Mexico.

There’s no denying Garcia Zarate found a handgun, aimed it into a crowd, and pulled the trigger. What was in dispute was the intent. Garcia Zarate told authorities he was trying to shoot a seal. He claimed he missed the seal and accidentally shot and killed Kate Steinle.

Immigration laws do not matter

Once again, we cannot count on our government to do the right thing. We have laws. If these laws were enforced, Kate Steinle would be alive right now. Would be seal killer Garcia Zarate would be in Mexico where he belongs.

It doesn’t matter what laws get passed if they’re not enforced. This is especially true with immigration laws. If they’re not enforced, they do not matter.

This is why there needs to be a dumb giant wall built between the United States and Mexico. Only a giant wall will keep people like Garcia Zarate out of our country. If he wants to shoot seals, let him do it in Mexico.

Once a wall was built to keep people out, we wouldn’t have to hope law enforcement does their duty. We wouldn’t have to hope their budget allows them to do their duty. A wall, unlike a law, is a physical thing. Gravity would enforce the intent and purpose of the wall. Congress doesn’t control gravity. It wouldn’t matter if Congress completely gut the budget of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the giant wall will keep people like Garcia Zarate out of our country.

Can a giant wall separating the United States and Mexico even be built? Sure. The Chinese built a giant wall that stretches over 13,000 miles. If the ancient Chinese could build a wall that large, surely we could build something smaller, yet similar if we really wanted to.
