Professional troll Milo Yiannopoulos is in trouble. A conservative blog, The Reagan Brigade, published clips of Milo advocating the act of adult men having sexual relationships with boys as young as 13-years-old.
The reaction to these videos was both swift and severe. Organizers of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) uninvited Milo to speak at the conference. Book publisher Simon & Schuster announced that it was canceling Milo’s book, Dangerous. No word yet if he’s been relieved of his technology editor position at Breitbart.
How will Breitbart report on technology if it doesn’t have Milo steering the ship? People may want to get their tech news from somewhere other than Breitbart until this situation is all ironed out.
What I find to be the most interesting thing about these videos is that they aren’t new. The Joe Rogan Experience video was published in 2015. The Drunken Peasants video was from 2016. Why was a conservative blog able to find these clips and publish them when the mainstream news media was not? Considering how much Milo has been in the news lately, you would think CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, MSNBC, or CNN could have assigned a few interns to the task of listening to some of the stuff he has said in the past.
People have been protesting at Milo’s speaking engagements at college campuses because they don’t like what he has to say. The mainstream news outlets should have found out exactly what Milo has said and then report that. They failed to do that. Instead, a conservative blog most people have never heard of did the mainstream news’ job for them. People now know Milo is an advocate of adult men having sexual relationships with boys as young as 13-year-old boys. If it were up to the mainstream news media to inform us, we would still be in the dark.
Milo Yiannopoulos is done. People can forgive and forget a lot of terrible things, Man-boy love, pedophilia, is not one of those things.
