Seeing this video of the Space Shuttle Discovery flying piggyback atop a specially modified 747 over the National Mall really makes me wish I had played hooky from work today and gone down and checked it out in person. It’s not like a Space Shuttle will fly over Washington D.C. even again.
I missed something really special.
The shuttle Discovery is heading to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum annex in Virginia where it will replace the Enterprise on static display. The Enterprise, in turn, will be moved to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City.
When I think of the sucky day I had at work, I think I should have played hooky and gone shuttle watching.
