From the San Francisco Chronicle:
Texas Rangers outfielder and recovering drug addict Josh Hamilton said Friday that he had a relapse that started with “three or four” drinks at a Dallas-area bar this week, apologizing for a “weak moment” and insisting he will try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
This isn’t the first time Josh Hamilton has lapsed since writing a book detailing how Jesus cured him of his substance abuse problems. This relapse, like jus prior relapse, involved drinking in a very public place where people were going to recognize him. Normally when drunks lapse in their recovery, they slink into a liqueur store where they won’t be recognized, buy a bottle, and then go get hammered in private. Not Josh Hamilton. He goes into a bar and makes a public spectacle of himself.
There’s obviously something going on with Hamilton more than just a problem with drugs and alcohol. He’s self-destructive.
