I received my first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine yesterday. I was originally scheduled to receive the Johnson & Johnson single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Over the weekend, I received a text informing me that my appointment had been updated, and I was now scheduled to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Needless to say, I was pleased about this.
I received the vaccine at the former Wolf Furniture building located at the Hagerstown Premium Outlets. It was converted into one of the six Maryland mass vaccination sites. The Maryland National Guard was running everything. Most of the people working there were wearing camouflage BDUs. I was glad to see it. When faced with a deadly pandemic that has killed over 550,000 Americans, I want to see U.S. military involvement. Plus, it brought back old times. I have a lot of experience getting shots delivered by people in military uniforms.
Everyone was very professional. That is something that has been in short supply in this pandemic, people acting professionally.
I will receive a second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine sometime soon.
Sheri is scheduled to receive the vaccine Friday morning at the Meritus Health Center. She can receive the vaccine now because she works in the financial industry. She won’t know which vaccine she will be receiving until she shows up at Meritus tomorrow.
Once we are both fully vaccinated for COVID-19, I’d like to think our lives can return to normal. At least normal for us.
