Eagle-eyed viewers watching Sunday’s episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones were rewarded with something that was not supposed to be in the episode. Quality writing? Story arcs that made sense? Nope. The masterminds behind this final season were able to make sure the episode was free of those things. If only they had been as diligent when it came to making sure actress Emilia Clarke didn’t have her Starbucks cup on the table while filming.
Oops.
Not to brag or anything, but I was quite the thespian in high school and community college. It was ingrained into my brain early on that you only drink clear beverages while in costume, preferably only water. You don’t want to drink anything that could stain your costume. I guess professional actors and actresses do not share this rule with their amateur counterparts.
Supposedly the cup didn’t come from an actual Starbucks but from craft services. Evidently, they serve Starbucks coffee. One sure-fire way of making sure this type of thing doesn’t happen is to have craft services only serve drinks in cups true to the Game of Thrones universe. As an avid coffee drinker, take it from me, paper cups are terrible for serving coffee. Especially if you prefer your coffee hotter than lukewarm.
D.B. Weiss and David Benioff just don’t care
Personally, I think this is just more evidence series creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff don’t give a shit anymore. This episode, The Last of the Starks, is the worst one of the entire series. Considering the fact there are now only two more episodes to go, makes this episode even worse.
Who knew dragons were so slow and delicate, thus easy to kill? Who knew women later appreciate being raped? Not me, that’s who.
I think we’re now seeing what happens when George R.R. Martin isn’t spoon-feeding Weiss and Benioff the story to “create.”
