Dan Slott is a writer for Marvel Comics. For some strange reason, he thought it was a good idea to go on Twitter and tell people Joker was a terrible movie. Joker stars Joaquin Phenox and was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures. It tells the origin story of Batman’s greatest nemesis, The Joker.
Here’s the first tweet:
Dan Slott’s comments about Joker appeared inappropriate. He works for Marvel, DC’s principal competitor. His comments seem inappropriate and even unethical.
Slott continued:
Slott told people not to watch a movie made by his employer’s chief competitor. How does that not give him pause?
Slott continued with this:
Why would Slott feel at all qualified as an employee of Marvel Comics to tell Warner Bros., the parent company of DC Comics, how to make a movie based on a DC Comics character? The movie currently has a critic’s rating of 68 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is at 89 percent. As of this past Sunday, Joker has grossed over $193,000,000. No matter how you cut it, the movie Dan Slott is telling people not to see is a hit movie produced by his employer’s competitor.
Slott then concluded with this:
The rancid little cherry on top of this god awful sundae? Who talks like that? Normally I would defer to Slott’s wisdom regarding the deserts of children, but “rancid little cherry” seems like a weird phrase to use to get your point across. If I were Slott, I would avoid food-related analogies all together.
Dan Slott should stay in his lane
Slott should use his blue check marked Twitter account responsibly. That means promoting his work and the work of his employer. The only reason he has a verified Twitter account is because he’s a famous Marvel Comics writer.
Slott’s Twitter feed should be void of anything to do with DC or its parent company. When it comes to DC, he’s not at all impartial. If he wants to tweet his hot takes about movies, he should only critique movies produced by his employer.
