Marvel Comics fired Chuck Wendig over his Twitter posts

Marvel Comics took the extraordinary step firing Chuck Wendig, an acclaimed writer working for them as a freelancer. Reportedly Marvel fired him over posts he made on his personal Twitter account. Here is what Mr. Wendig said about the situation on his Twitter account:

Chuck Wendig had his personal, verified Twitter account long before he began writing comic books for Marvel, and he’ll have it for a long time to come. This is the tweet that most likely landed him in hot water with Marvel:

This tweet irritated a good many Trump supporters. Members of the cash grab known as Comicsgate made a very big deal about it. Not only do they enjoy paying $35 for 48-page comics not yet published, but they also enjoy going after SJWs, cucks, soyboys, cultural Marxists, and people who don’t support Donald Trump. In other words, roughly 60% of the country.

Some of the biggest and most respected GOP celebrities, people like Dinesh D’Souza, Ben Shapiro, and even Curt “bankruptcy” Schilling, began publicly chastising Mr. Windig over his anti-GOP, anti-Trump tweets. Mr. Windig’s tweets then may or may not have come to the attention of Ike Perlmutter.

Who is Ike Perlmutter?

Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter

Ike Perlmutter is a super-weird billionaire and a massive Donald Trump supporter. He’s not only best friends with Trump, he reportedly secretly co-managers the Department of Veteran Affairs from Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s favorite country club. Ike Perlmutter is also the chairman and former CEO of Marvel Entertainment.

It’s not outside the realm of possibilities to think Perlmutter somehow heard about Chuck Wendig’s Twitter activity, perhaps someone in his inner circle listening to The Ben Shapiro Show, and ordered Marvel editorial to show Mr. Wendig the door. Something had to have recently happened considering Mr. Wendig has always been vocal about his disdain for Republicans and their politics.

What Marvel Comics did was terrible

How Marvel Comics could go after a person because of their free speech is more than ridiculous. Books publishers traditionally placed great value on free speech. Not Marvel Comics. I’m glad I don’t spend much money on Marvel books. I was reading their Star Wars books, but I probably will not do that anymore.
