American actor Chadwick Boseman died yesterday from colon cancer. He was 43.
He was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago. He chose not to publicize his condition. Instead, he continued working. I could never do that. I’m too weak. If something similar happened to me, I think I would curl up in an angry ball and shout vulgar insults at the universe. Chadwick Boseman was a much better human than me. This fact makes his untimely passing even worse. Why do bad things happen to good people?
Chadwick Boseman was even mightier than the superhero he portrayed
Boseman joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2016 as T’Challa/Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. He went on to star in the 2018 mega-hit Black Panther. By my calculations, that means he filmed Black Panther, a massive, large-scale action movie, with stage-four colon cancer. Again, Chadwick Boseman was a much better human than me.
Needless to say, he will be missed.
