I’ve recently gotten back into playing World of Warcraft. Though the game doesn’t have the most complex of graphics, my computer’s video card, a GeForce 8800 GT, has been getting so hot after hours and hours of game play, that the thermal breaker in the computer’s CPU has been tripping.
This has been happening a lot.
I realized I needed to upgrade my computer’s case. I currently have a Cooler Master Elite 360. Though it’s a decent case with a small foot print, contrary to the name brand, it doesn’t offer a lot of cooling. Its main cooling fan is located at the top. It sucks air out from the bottom of the case and the side and expels it out the top. At least that’s the way it’s designed to work. The problem is that the video card effectively cuts the case in half, blocking off the air vent on the bottom of the case as well as two vents on the side. The video card runs the entire length of the motherboard and nearly butts up against the power supply.
I realized I needed a new case. I needed something bigger to accommodate my large video card and something with a top fan, but also a front and back fan too.
After looking at various cases, I decided to purchase a Cooler Master Storm Scout Gaming Mid Tower. I could have purchased it at Best Buy where they would have shipped it for free to my local Best Buy. I decided to instead order it from Amazon. The price was the same, but Amazon would ship it for free to my house. I placed the order on Monday.
It’s now Wednesday and Amazon as still not shipped out the case, even though they list it as being in stock. When I check the order status, it says, “Shipping Soon.”
What does that mean?
I’ve never ordered anything from Amazon and had them just sit on the order for a couple of days. If I had wanted crappy service, I would have just ordered it from Best Buy.
