Terminator Salvation has one of the worst movie endings I've ever seen

December 21, 2009

I finally got around to watching Terminator Salvation this past weekend and I’ve got to say that this movie had one of the worst endings I’ve ever seen.

Other than that, the movie wasn’t half bad.

Anyone seeing the trailers for the movie knows that it was bursting with CGI special effects. The special effects are so good that it almost makes up for the fact that the movie ends with one of the most ridiculous movie endings of the century, which technically, is really only the past nine years.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet and you don’t want to have the ending spoiled for you, than maybe you should stop reading this.

John Connor, played by Christian Bale, has been shot by a terminator and we are told his heart has suffered a lot of damage. It can’t be too bad because it’s not like he’s on any type of life support machines. He’s lying on a table outside under camouflage netting and is conscious and is able to speak to people around him. The half-human, half-terminator cyborg Marcus Wright, played by Sam Worthington, offers up his human heart for John Connor. Not only does John Connor take him up on this offer, the surgery is performed right out in the open under the camouflage netting and on the dirt floor.

There is no testing to see if Marcus Wright is even a match for John Connor. And what about the necessary anti-rejection drugs that a heart transplant would require? John Connor would need to take these hard to get drugs for the rest of his life.

The surgery is a success because we see John Connor wake up in the back of the Huey flying off into the sunset.

Having John Connor die at the end of the movie would have been a much more satisfying ending. The movie series could continue easily without John Connor. The movie series is about the Terminators, not Sarah Connor’s bastard love child.

I have never seen a more ridiculous movie review. Have you not seen the original terminators? First of all, the movie series cannot continue because John Connor has not sent Kyle Resse into the past to save his mother, Sarah Connor. Also, it is possible that someone has a dying heart and still be conscious momentarily. Lastly, when have you know a Hollywood movie to be realistic. Anyone can nit-pic a movie apart. Next time, write a movie review.

@Dan W: What if John Connor from the past comes to the future and than sends Kyle Reese back in time?
