PC Decrapifier
PC Decrapifier is a nice piece of free software that removes the “crap” from your Windows XP or Vista PC. The crap in this case being the free junk software that comes bundled on your PC when you buy it. Software companies pay PC makers to instill all sorts of trial software on new machines. Most if not all of it is not worth having. If it was software that people actually wanted, companies wouldn’t have to pay to have in installed on new machines.
I usually just manually uninstall all the free trial crap software, but PC Decrapifier does all the work for you.
Manage files better with muCommander
If you’re not a fan of your computer’s operating system’s file manager, you really ought to check out muCommander. There’s a version for just about every operating system known to man. Remember that alien computer system in the movie Independence Day? The one that Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum uploaded a computer virus onto while docking with the alien mothership? Well, I think you can even download a version of muCommander for that operating system.
The list of available versions is that extensive.
The interface allows you to easily move files between directories through a two-panel view. I think there’s other options as far as the display is concerned, but the default two-lanel system works great. I try using two panels with Vista’s Explorer and it’s hard to keep the two displays up at the same time.
This software is free and it’s much better.
Media sharing has been turned off

For some unknown reason, media sharing between my PC and my Xbox 360 has been turned off. I’ve tried to turn it back on, but Vista will not allow me to do so. It also will not tell me why. I have tried clicking the Web Help button in the above message, and everything it tells me to check is already enabled.
I even rolled back my system to the way it was nearly two months ago using System Restore. I still cannot enable Media Sharing.
At this point, I do not know what to do. Using my Xbox 360 to stream videos from my PC to my TV is something I really like doing. Now when I want to watch a video from my PC, I have to save the video file to my USB thumb drive and physically take it to my Xbox 360. It’s fairly easy to do, but I would prefer to simply stream the videos over like I was doing before a week ago.
If anyone has experienced this problem and knows what to do, I’d love to hear about it.
UPDATE: I found a simple work around to the problem. I download a free program called Winamp Remote. I can now stream videos from my PC directly to my Xbox 360 to watch them on my TV.
UPDATE to the UPDATE: Turns out Winamp Remote isn’t that great. Videos in widescreen format appear very small on the TV screen. Now I am just putting the video on a 2 gig jump drive and plugging it into one of the USB ports.
UPDATE to the UPDATED UPDATE: I fixed the problem.
