Why is John Edwards still lying?

Everyone’s favorite son of a millworker John Edwards claimed in his prepared written statement that he had broken it off with his mistress Rielle Hunter in 2006. He wrote:

With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then.

On ABC News Nightline, John Edwards claimed that in 2006 he told his wife Elizabeth about “The Mistake” and asked her forgiveness.

Technology blogger Robert Scoble took this photo of Rielle Hunter on December 30, 2006 in in New Orleans at an Edwards event and was working with the Edwards team.

If he ended his relationship with Rielle Hunter in 2006, why is she there in New Orleans with him?

Why is he insisting that the affair ended in 2006?  I’m guessing because Rielle Hunter’s baby was born on February 27, 2008. It seems Edwards wants to make it look mathematically impossible that he is the baby’s father.

The definition of voyeurism

I guess Elizabeth Edwards has issued a statement about her husband’s infidelities and the subsequent lying about it over on Daily Kos.  I don’t know if she actually wrote the words that appear there or if someone from her husband’s staff (if he even still has a staff) wrote the words on her behalf.

Her concluding statement was interesting. It was:

I ask that the public, who expressed concern about the harm John’s conduct has done to us, think also about the real harm that the present voyeurism does and give me and my family the privacy we need at this time.

Voyeurism? Is that what she thinks is going on here? Webster’s defines voyeurism as “sexual stimulation or satisfaction from looking at naked people, most often without their knowledge.”

I’d argue that there is only one person in this whole mess that was deriving sexual stimulation or satisfaction. His name is John Edwards.

What if John Edwards had won the Democratic Presidential nomination? Imagine what the right-wing would have done with this information in the last week of October. They would have run nonstop commercials showing Edwards with his mistress along with her baby. The same baby that does not have a father listed on the birth certificate. The same baby that we are supposed to take at Edward’s word that is not his.

Knowing what we know now about John Edwards, he never should have pursued the Democratic Presidential nomination for 2008. Anyone that knew John Edwards had been screwing around on his wife in 2006 should for the good of the party and the country have discouraged him from pursuing the nomination. That includes Elizabeth Edwards. If she knew about it.

I’m not convinced that she did.

I told you John Edwards was a fake

News broke out this afternoon that former Democratic presidential hopeful and all around fake John Edwards had as the National Enquirer reported earlier, had an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter. He evidently is still claiming that the woman’s child is not his. Why anyone would trust him at this point is beyond me.

I cannot imagine the pain Elizabeth Edwards is going through right now. Now only is she dying from cancer, she has to deal with this mess. My heart goes out to her.

The timing of this announcement is more then just a coincidence. Not only did he pick a Friday to make this announcement, he chose the first day of the Olympics. People have their attentions elsewhere today.

The mainstream news media really dropped the ball on this. Why was the National Enquirer able to learn about this, but they were not? How pathetic they look. It is no wonder that newspapers are losing more and more readers each and every year. If they actually did their jobs and tried to uncover the truth, maybe people would still be reading them.

I was reading an article about the guy living next door to John and Elizibeth Edwards. His name is Monty Johnson. He is the man Elizabeth Edwards referred to as a “rabid, rabid Republican.” She also said she didn’t want her children anywhere near him because of his love for guns.

In the article, Monty spoke of first seeing the Edwards:

The day they looked at their property, the couple and several Secret Service agents parked on his land and walked across the street into the woods.

Johnson approached the agents and asked what they were doing on his property. “The Secret Service let me know it wasn’t my concern,” he said.

Did they use The Force? Like Obi-Wan telling the stormtroopers, “These are not the droids you are looking for.

Why would Edwards even have Secret Service protection? I thought that only happened when a candidate actually won his (or her) party’s nomination. Edwards would have had such protection while running for the Vice President in 2004, but in another article written in January of this year it states that they recently moved into this home.

Would the Edwards even have time to go house hunting will running for Vice President?

  • The person that created the anti-Clinton “Vote Different” YouTube ad styled after the old Apple 1984 ad has been identified. He used to work for the company that does Internet work for the Obama campaign. He wrote a post over at at The Huffington Post explaining his motivation for the ad. Big shocker, he is an Obama supporter. Who would have thought that? He also explains that he made the ad without his employer’s knowledge. In fact he was fired for making the ad.
  • Elizabeth Edwards once again has cancer. It’s incurable, but it’s treatable. I’m not sure I understand that, but I usually don’t understand medical things until I see it in an episode of House. Her husband John Edwards will continue his campaign for the Democratic Presidential nomination. You would think with his wife facing such a serious medical problem, he would want to focus on her instead of his pursuit for third place.
  • Once again, that longed haired hippy Sanjaya Malakar escaped getting kicked off American Idol. When will he finally get voted off the show? Do I have to pick up the phone and actually vote for someone? Someone who’s name is not Sanjaya? His singing was so bad this week that he actually made a retarded girl cry. If this keeps up, I will begin to doubt the musical integrity of the show. I do not like Sanjaya Malakar.
  • Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy has weighed in on the topic of gay marriage. He says that he and Jesus are against it. That’s ironic, because many gay people in committed relationships think the Colts suck.
  • Apple launched their newest product today. It’s something called Apple TV. Oddly enough, they chose not to put a pretentious lowercase “i” in front of the name. Apple claims that it will enable you to put audio and video content from your iTunes library to your widescreen hi-def TV. It will allow you to watch movies, TV shows, podcasts, and porn pictures from your computer. It uses wireless to sync up to 6 computers to your TV. It costs $299. If you have a video iPod, you can simply buy a patch cable from Apple for less then $20 that allows you to basically do the same thing.
  • The SCI FI Channel has increased its episode order for the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica to 22 up from the original 13. If you ever wanted to realize just how much the last ten plus years of Star Trek sucked, watch an episode of Battlestar Galactica.

  • Speaking of Sean Hannity, has anyone ever seen Hannity and Nathen Lane at the same time? Those two look so much alike that I’m starting to think they might be the same person. Look here to see a comparison.
