I guess nobody at the Chicago Tribune listens to Sirius XM on the iPhone

The Chicago Tribune has an article concerning Howard Stern and his chances of resigning with Sirius XM radio. His five year, $500 million, four-days-a-week contract is set to expire at the end of the next year. That means now is the time for Howard Stern and Sirius XM to begin negotiating a new contract.

About the only thing that is clear at this point is that there is no way he will get another $500 million contract.

Back when he scored the original $500 million contract, Sirius and XM were locked into a satellite radio war. Sirius needed Stern because they needed a big name to add to their lineup. Now Sirius and XM are the same company. At least they are supposed to be. They are still run as though they are two separate entities.

The point is, Sirius and XM aren’t about to get into a bidding war for the services of Howard Stern. So what does this mean for Howard Stern? According to the Chicago Tribune, maybe he will become a podcaster:

Stern could leave to start a new venture, perhaps a subscription service that sends his show to PCs and mobile devices. Sirius already streams Stern’s shows online and through the iPhone. Or he could explore more options in cable TV, where his first pay-per-view special, “Howard Stern’s Negligee and Underpants Party,” was offered in 1988.

Contrary to the Chicago Tribune, Howard Stern is not available on the iPhone. His show is about the only things you cannot listen to via the Sirius XM iPhone app. What’s funny about this is that he was pushing for a Sirius XM iPhone app for some time. Evidently his $500 million contract did not allow Sirius XM to stream his show over the iPhone. You can listen to his show on the computer, just not the iPhone.

What in the world is going on with Sammy Sosa?

If you didn’t know that the man on the right was Sammy Sosa, you would think it was just some creepy looking guy with pasty skin and freaky looking eyes. It’s Sammy Sosa with pasty skin and freaky looking eyes.

He looks like a vampire or a zombie.

Is pale skin one of the side effects of long time steroid use?  If it is, it wouldn’t be the first time Sammy Sosa displayed an unwanted side effect from hard-core steroid abuse.  Who can forget the time Sammy Sosa was called before Congress to talk about performance enhancing drugs in baseball and he lost the ability to speak English?  If I’m not mistaken, that’s one of the possible side effects of steroid use.  I once took a cortisone injection in my shoulder and I stopped being able to speak Klingon.

A coincidence?  I think not.

One of his “friends” told the Chicago Tribune that he is going through some kind of “rejuvenation process for his skin” and that it left his skin looking white.  This friend also said something about Sosa using moisturizing treatment at night on his face.

If he’s using moisturizer on his face, why are his ears white too?

The whole Wal-Mart Nazi t-shirt thing will not die

I got a call yesterday afternoon from a reporter from the Chicago Tribune. It was concerning my not-so-recent discovery of Nazi t-shirts being sold at my local Wal-Mart. I blogged about it at the time. Feel free to go back and read my posts if you want to.

I haven’t blogged about the ‘controversy” since November 21. I did write about some idiot that emailed me about it, but that doesn’t really count. I wasn’t blogging about how bad Wal-Mart was for selling Nazi paraphernalia to kids. I was blogging about how much of a tard some guy was. Others have been blogging about it though. Some have been quite active on the subject. Just not me.
It seems that congressperson Jan Schakowsky from Illinois has learned about Wal-Mart selling Nazi swag. She is pissed off about it. She wrote a letter to Wal-Mart and even got other members of Congress to sign the letter. In fact, she even got Representative Barny Franks to sign it.

Nothing demonstrates just how angry you are then than getting Representative Barney Frank to sign your letter.

The reporter from the Chicago Tribune wrote an article about it that was published in today’s issue. She mentioned in her article that I was the one who first wrote about Wal-Mart selling the shirts.

I hope this does not get me in trouble. There is a chance (albeit a small chance) that I am a wanted man in Chicago. The last time I was in the Windy City I drove through a toll without paying. I wanted to pay the toll. I had the money to pay the toll. Sort of. Illinois has these unmanned toll booths where the driver has to throw change into a big orange plastic basket. It’s really quite easy. If you have any change that is. I had just flown in and I didn’t have any change. I only had paper money. Not knowing what to do, I just drove through without paying.

I haven’t been back to Chicago since. I haven’t dared.
