This is what happens when you continue to use a racial slur as your team name

Yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs were in Landover, Maryland to play a football game with the Washington Redskins. The Chiefs won 45-10, which I’m sure was a surprise to no one. Not that Washington lost, but that it was as close as it was. The Chiefs only won by 35 points.

A Missouri Sonic Drive-in tried to get into pre-game spirit by displaying the following signage in front of their restaurant:

Evidently some people had a problem with this. Go figure.

Is the sign racist? Sure, but so is the name of the team the Kansas City Chiefs were playing yesterday. The term “Redskin” is a slur based on the perceived skin color of a race of people. The fact that it’s the year 2013 and there’s a team pretending to play in our nation’s capital with a blatantly obvious racial slur for a team name, is really quite remarkable.
