I am done buying jerseys on eBay

Last week I bought what I thought was a Mitchell & Ness Jim Plunkett Oakland Raiders throwback jersey on eBay. I thought this because that’s the way the jersey was listed, that it was an authentic Mitchell & Ness jersey. On Wednesday the jersey arrived in the mail and upon taking it out of the package, I immediately knew it was a fake. It is not a Mitchell & Ness jersey. The sleeves have Reebok logos embroidered on them. This would be like buying a Porsche 911 and finding a Hyundai logo mounted on the hood.

Not only is the jersey a fake, it’s not even a good fake. The fabric is too thin. The stitching is sloppy. It doesn’t have an NFL hologram on the tag.

I immediately contacted the person I bought the jersey from, Evan Rosen of Carmel, New York and told him how dissatisfied I was with my purchase. He responded with the following:

I am very sorry you are not satisfied with your jersey. i will gladly refund your money, once i receive the jersey i will refund immediately, again i am sorry you are not happy

I like how he takes my money and sends me a counterfeit jersey, yet he will not refund my money until he receives the bogus jersey back. He broke laws, but he will not refund my money until he gets the fake jersey back. It’s not like he is going to dispose of it. I’m sure he will just sell it to someone else.

He then sent me another email the following morning:

sir, I just want you to know that i had no idea these jerseya are fake , i just sell them for another person to make a few extra dollars. that is way I immediately answered you and will return your money asap, Also i will talk to the guy I get the jerseys from…I hadn’t had any complaints in the past so i don’t know if this is a one time thing or not..but again I want to apologize for this I am truly sorry for your inconvience. Evan

Whatever. If he was really returning my money asap, it would be sitting in my PayPal account.

I’m done buying jerseys on eBay. I think it is ridiculous that eBay doesn’t do anything to stop thieves like Evan Rosen from peddling bogus merchandise on their website.
