There’s going to be a real-life comic book and pop-culture convention in Washington D.C. this weekend. It’s called Awesome Con D.C. and it’s organized by Ben Penrod and Steve Anderson. This is the first convention the two have done in the nation’s capital, though they have promoted similar regional events, the Annapolis Comic-Con and the Southern Maryland Comic-Con.
The con is being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, located within walking distance of the National Mall. The hours on Saturday are from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Single-day tickets can be purchased as the door for $15. Two-day tickets can be had for $25.
Yes, that’s right, I liked the movie Congo.
It’s been a long time since we’ve been to a comic book convention. I don’t even remember which one we were last at. This one looks as though it’s worth checking out. Worst case scenario, we can leave the con early and go check out the cherry blossoms, which should still be around and worth looking at on Saturday.
