When people buy gift cards for their friends and loved ones, retailers don’t have to worry about these friends and loved ones bringing gifts back to the store for a refund. Once a store sells a gift card to a consumer, the transaction is complete.

How far will retailers go to get people to buy gift cards? If they are like Borders, they will put them on sale. Currently, Borders has a sale on $60 worth of gift cards for $50. Spend $50 on gift cards at Borders’ website and they will send you two $25 gift cards along with another free $10 gift card.
This seems like a good deal, especially when you then combine it with a Borders Rewards 40% off coupon. You could purchase the gift cards and then wait for a 40% coupon to be released. It would enable you to purchase a $100 book for only $50 bucks.
