Troubled Giants star Plaxico Burress, who shot himself in the leg with an unlicensed gun at a Manhattan nightclub, will turn himself in to cops Monday.
The Big Blue receiver will plead not guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon, his lawyer told the Daily News.
Burress, who is holed up inside his palatial New Jersey estate today while his team was in Washington D.C. playing the Redskins, will not talk to investigators when booked at Manhattan’s 17th Precinct, his lawyer Benjamin Brafman said.
I don’t see how exactly Plaxico Burress is going to be charged with a crime. The New York City Police didn’t even know about this until they read about it in the newspaper. They weren’t called to the night club when Burress was shot. They weren’t called to the hospital. They don’t have the gun. They can’t force Plaxico Burress to answer any of their questions. They have no real evidence other than what they are reading in the papers.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Plaxico Burress is an idiot. I just don’t think the New York City cops are any better.

/ December 1, 2008I don’t think that this is an issue of police incompetence, but rather a case of how being a celebrity changes the rules by which one must live.
- The bouncer let Plaxico in with a gun. (there was a metal detector.)
- The club didn’t report the accident to police.
- The hospital didn’t report the accident, either. Generally, hospitals (ie doctors and nurses) are required to report gunshot wounds.
All of these things happened because of his status as a celebrity. A lot of people covered up shit for Plaxico. NYC has a mandatory 3.5 year minimum for this crime (carrying a concealed weapon.) Won’t there have to be a serious investigation this whole incident, from start to finish?
And the police couldn’t have known about any of this shit because of all the people that chose to look the other way.
I say fuck all the assholes who feel that being a celebrity entitles people to special treatment.

/ December 1, 2008I just don’t see how the NYPD is going to hold a legitimate investigation into this when they don’t have any evidence. Not that I think they are really interested in investigating this in that he has already been charged.
I think they are just grandstanding.
He’s already been punished enough. He has a .40 inch hole in his leg.
