Former Saturday Night Live head writer returned to the show last night to once again play the part of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Even though she is a tree hugging liberal like me, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tina Fey secretly wanted McCain to win next month. Not only as a millionaire would she be getting a massive cut under a McCain presidency, she would never have to worry about not having anything to do on a Saturday night.
Tina Fey as Sarah Palin is comedy gold.

/ October 5, 2008Usually when SNL attempts to “spoof” someone famous by having one of its cast members attempt to imitate them, without putting any particular humorous spin or adding any insight, I find it lazy and boring (like Fred Armissen’s Obama), but the real Palin is so ridiculous already that all Fey has to do is turn her imitation up just a smidge and it’s brilliant.
I remember when Phil Hartman was still playing Bill Clinton on SNL (and, I should also mention, alive), he appeared on The Tonight Show and Leno asked him who he was going to vote for in the next election. Hartman smiled and said, “Well, job security, Jay . . .” So you might be on to something.
Of course, Tina Fey has been quoted as saying “I want to be done playing this lady on November 5,” so maybe the tax cut isn’t worth it after all. I sure as hell wouldn’t think so.
