‘Clone Wars’ to feature Jabba the Hutt’s gay uncle

It seems that Clone Wars will feature a gay character. Once again I turn to the MTV movie blog to get all my Star Wars info:
Jabba’s uncle, Zero the Hutt, a new character introduced specifically for the upcoming animated series, is a gay stereotype that makes what Jar Jar Binks represented to the island of Jamaica look subtle by comparison. It’s not the look or design that pushes it over the top into stereotype, of course, but the voice (performed by Corey Burden), a lispy, high-pitched twang purposively reminiscent of Truman Capote.
What? Truman Capote was gay? And who exactly decided to inject a lispy talking, negative gay stereotype into the movie? Master filmmaker George Lucas, that’s who:
“Zero, Jabba’s uncle, originally spoke in Hutt-ese, like Jabba and then he had a different sluggish voice just like Jabba, and then George one day was watching it and said ‘I want him to sound like Truman Capote.’ He actually said that and we were like ‘Wow!’” Filion revealed. “It’s a hybrid of it but the inspiration is definitely there on Capote. It’s one of those things that takes him from being an interesting character and I think really does put him over the top and does something. He’s a favorite among the crew here.”
The more I learn about this movie, the more I hate it. I’m not going to say that Jabba’s Uncle Zero is offensive to gay people, but the potential is certainly there.
It doesn’t look good.

I wonder how much truth there is to the rumor that Lucas also insisted all of Zero’s scenes be re-animated to be staged in the hair salon he owns and operates with his sister, and that they shoehorn in the character of Seth, Zero’s lover, the wedding planner.
Who knew George Lucas was this loathsome before he went back to the well with Star Wars? Back in high school, I had a pretty positive opinion of the guy.
You went to high school with George Lucas? Wow, that beats me. I went to high school with Regis Philbin’s son.
I didn’t attend high school with him, but I always did think he dressed like a shop teacher.
In fact, he dressed more like a shop teacher than my shop teacher did in high school. Fancy that.
Hey, Lucas- how about coming up with an original fucking character? “Make him sound like Truman Capote.” What the fuck?
Naw, it’s not Truman Capote. It’s Grandma Ethyl from Dinosaurs.

I just watched Star Wars: Clone Wars with my best friend. Both of us are gay and in our mid-twenties. I didn’t find Ziro the Hutt offensive at all… We actually loved him. He was the most memorable character to use, and we found ourselves in the gay bars afterward reciting the way he said “Count Dookuuuu”. He definitely stole the show for us.
Overall, the show started out really heavy–with way too much dialogue, but it was pretty good. I would say Star Wars fans would enjoy it. Definitely.
It ends open like the middle movies in the trilogies.
To George Lucas, the man who returned the innocents of the Movie Serial in the forms of Start Wars and Radars of the Lost Ark, I say “Same on You”. The beauty for the original Star Wars was inspiration of a traditional fairy tail store tuned into a space epic. Clone wars is a Platoon done to cartoon in the Star Wars theme, the deafening absence of a fairy tail story line, with the a subplot of governmental deceit with the cooperation of a flamboyantly gay uncle of Jabba the Hutt (I took my child out of public education because they spent more time teaching my sin about the gay agenda then they do about morality, guess something as innocent as a cartoon movies are out now too).
Same on me for taking a 6 year old whom watched the first 3 movies with me and shared in the joy and lessons it preached, tonight was spent explaining things he is years from understanding. And same on George Locus for turning Star Wars into a perverse exposés on America today….if you wanted to do that , make something for CNN please!
This summer I watched the best and worst children’s movies in years. I held my wife’s hand, and cried to the love and innocent beauty of Wall-E…then I cried to my wife as I apologized for exposing the trash that was Star Wars Clones to my boy.
millernetguy, it sounds to me that you cry an awful lot. Maybe you ought to seriously think about stop being such a cry baby. You need to cowboy up.
And I hope you aren’t home schooling your kid. “Same on Me”? “Radars of the Lost Ark”? Your spelling is even worse then mine.
There’s no such thing as a “gay agenda”. Gay people only want the same rights and privileges that you and me as heterosexuals enjoy in this country. No more, no less.
And something you might want to consider is that your 6-year old boy may very well grow up to realize that he is gay. What would you do then? Gay folk don’t choose to be gay any more then heterosexual people choose to be heterosexual.
That guy may be on to something about the whole gay agenda thing… there sure are a lot of home design shows on TV…
I watched the movie last night and wanted more in terms of the overall plot. It was cute and entertaining though. The animation was top-notch for the exception of a few jerky movements here and there. In addition, Zero’s part in the movie was likely the best in my opinion in addition to Jabba’s. Regarding the gayness in the movie, millernetguy needs to loosen his collar! If you are worried about your son being exposed to the “gay agenda” you had better rid yourself of television for certain. Your son has a much better chance of being influenced by TV than a character in any Star Wars movie. Simply put, the movie was a riot in terms of Zero and your son likely didn’t need an explanation at all; meaning that he probably didn’t notice the gayness of the character if you will. So what’s the big deal? You simply need to whine a bit in my opinion. If you want to check out a great TV show that will introduce you to some entertaining gay lifestyles, look at Will and Grace… If you dare that is! LOL!
