Imus certainly stepped in it this time
Don Imus is once again in hot water over something he said on his radio show. Last time is was about the hair style of the Rutgers ladies basketball team. This time it was concerning former Tennessee Titans defensive back Pacman Adam Jones.
Maybe the I-Man shouldn’t talk about sports?
He and the rest of the people on his show were discussing Jones and how he has been arrested multiple times for multiple offenses. This is what Imus said:
Imus: “What color is he?”
Warner Wolf: “African-American”
Imus: “There you go. Now we know.”
Maybe it’s just me, but I think any time you begin your statement by asking what color someone is, it cannot be good.
I thought much of the Imus outrage the last go around was overblown. I thought what he said about the lady basketball players was stupid, but I did not think it was as bad as most people pretended it was. With that said, I think this statement is worse then what he said about the lady basketball players. A lot worse.
Don Imus is just a big old racist idiot. He needs to just go away.

Funny thing this time is, I immediately thought he was coming from the “picked on by the police because he’s black” angle, which is how he explained it away later on. But that’s a misguided position as well, since Pac-Man Jones is decidedly an idiot who was arrested, not because he’s black, but because he actually broke the law. So all in all, I don’t disagree that Imus’s time is over. Not that anyone still listens to him anyway.
Yeah, it really would be pretty funny if he is telling the truth this time and gets fired for it.
I think Imus still has an audience. At least he did. Now I’m not too sure. I used to watch him in the mornings on MSNBC. He had a diverse guest lists and I thought he was a good interviewer. I read once that even though his radio show was low in the ratings, it brought in more ad revenue.
What got me about the clip that I heard was how old he sounded. I don’t think I’ve heard him since he was fired from MSNBC. He sounded much older.
I heard the “apology” the next day. It was embarrassing to listen to, and I wasn’t even involved. Imus totally played the “He was being harassed because he’s black” card, and his justification was pathetic. He said something like, “He’s been apprehended by the police SIX TIMES! They’re obviously harassing him solely because he is black.” It really was pathetic.
