Former Vermont governor, failed presidential candidate, and current Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has issued an ultimatum of sorts to Democratic superdelegates; he wants them to decide now who they will be voting for at the Democratic National Convention in August.
He wants to lock down the Democratic nominee as soon as possible.
And I thought Doctor Dean was a stickler for keeping to a schedule. He disenfranchised Democrats in both Florida and Michigan because both states dared to hold their primaries before Dean said they could.
He can’t have it both ways. He can’t penalize the voters in Florida and Michigan because they supposedly voted early and then demand that superdelegates do the very same thing by declaring who they plan on voting for in August.

He did it because he sees the Democratic Party going down in flames while McCain climbs on the shoulders of Hillary and Obama — two superior candidates who don’t stand a chance if they can’t quit throwing mud at each other. This resolution for an early end to the in-fighting is the smartest thing the party has come up with in a long time. As for him contradicting his previous position…I’d rather he were 50% right than 0% right.
Obama’s problems aren’t going to go away after he receives the nomination. His problems have nothing to do with Hillary. If anything, the focus on Obama and his various issues will only increase after Hillary is no longer in the race. Hillary remaining in the race only helps divert attention away from Obama.
His problems have a great deal to do with Hillary. An infuriating percentage of petty Hillary supporters have said in polls that, should Hillary lose the nomination to Obama, they’d vote for McCain (buncha masochists). The sooner this rivalry ends, the less divided the party will be.
Did Hillary force him to attend a church with an America hating bigot for a pastor?
Did Hillary force him to take money from Tony Rizco?
Did Hillary force him to become friends with William Ayers, a convicted terrorist?
I have no doubt that some Hillary supporters will vote for McCain over Obama. There are those that see themselves as Americans first and Democrats second. I’m sure some Democrats think it’s cute that Obama won’t wear a flag pin or put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem or that his chosen spiritual adviser referred to the United States as the US of KKK A.
The biggest problem I have with Obama is that he seems to be immune from criticism. In that regard, he reminds me of George W Bush in 2000. The press seemed to eat up his folksy charm and fake Texas swagger. Not once did they treat anything he said or did with the same critical eye that was used on Gore.

Maybe. As someone who considers himself a human being before an American OR a democrat, I find it very hard to understand what’s going through the heads of folks like that.
What, people that would vote for McCain? As Barack Obama pointed out, McCain would make a better president then Bush. I’m not sure at this point that I can say the same about Obama.
I’ve yet to be convinced that McCain would make a better president than Bush. Lately all he talks about is how he wants to extend Bush’s two greatest follies: The Iraq War, and the unnecessary tax cuts that are failing to balance the national budget. On what issues is McCain stronger? Better yet, on what issues has McCain been CONSISTENTLY strong over the years? His principles are about as permanent as dandelion seed.
McCain is a joke. I’m done with him.
While I’m not a huge McCain fan, he’s far from a joke. The real joke here is the fact that Obama has said NOTHING of substance. He refers to his campaign as “The Movement,” and obvious reference to the Civil Rights movement. How disgusting is that? To co-opt something that is so vitally important American history and use it for advertising purposes.
I’m no Hillary fan, either, but even she seems more fit to run the country than an inexperienced junior senator.
As for Dean, that fucking idiot couldn’t beat out that dolt Kerry for the ‘04 Democratic nomination. Why the fuck should he be running the goddamned party?
The only joke here is the Democratic party. I think I can actually feel myself becoming a libertarian (small “l,” not the political party.)
Done with him.
