Boston, the city of scaredy cats
If you are a Boston city official, you probably jumped under your desk in fear the very first second this image appeared on your computer monitor. It’s an LED sign powered by batteries. The LED’s are laid out in the shape of a cartoon character. A cartoon character flipping the middle finger.
Quit scary, isn’t it?
Not particularly. Unless you had a bad experience as a kid with a Lite-Brite. Remember those? I never had one, but I think my cousin did. I remember seeing them every year in the Sears Christmas catalog.
These signs appeared in over 10 American cities to promote the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force cartoon. Boston city officials were the only ones to freak out over it. They gave a whole new meaning to the term freaking out. They actually thought these signs were bombs planted by terrorists. They tied up the city of Boston for nearly 10 hours because they thought these signs were bombs.
How embarrassing for the city of Boston. The people that run their city are idiots. They overreact to Lite-Brite signs.

The great thing about Lite Brite was that, even years after throwing the thing away, you’d continue to find those colorful, little plastic pegs all over the house. It’s the proverbial “gift that keeps on giving.”
